True Swift Love

The relationship shared between a Swift owner and his/her Swift is way beyond that of just a person and his car. This maybe the case with other cars and their owners, however, with the Swift it’s a completely different ballgame.

The Swift is the epitome in its segment; it defines the ‘hatchback’ segment. When you think Swift, some of the numerous words that flash in your head are power, performance, passion and safety. These are qualities which ooze out of the Swift and are noticed by anybody who has ever seen a Swift (I don’t think anybody hasn’t).

The bond between a Swift owner and his/her car is that of two friends. When a person gets behind the wheel of the Swift, in an instant, a strong feeling of pride and confidence is felt by the driver, and these feelings are amplified by leaps and bounds as time passes. With its sporty, masculine exteriors and elegantly crafted interiors, there’s no way one can’t help but go absolutely gaga over this car.

Heres for instance an example of the bond shared between a Swift owner and his car in his own words, the following extract is from a travelogue written by Abhishek Dixit of New Delhi, who one fine morning decided to give the office desk and computer screen a miss, and instead with a friend for company and one backpack in the boot, set off from New Delhi to Sohna. The motive here was to get away from it all for a 3 day long weekend. Here’s what he had to say:

“My sturdy Swift held up well to the trials of the road to Sohna. We had some close calls along the way, narrowly avoiding a collision with 3 youngsters, high on IMFL, who were riding a wobbling Hero Honda without lights. Then there was the pi-dog that tried to attack us in passing. He must have lost quite a few teeth on the metal skin of the Swift, for we left him howling in agony behind us…”

We would be delighted if you shared your own experiences, which have further strengthened the bond shared between you and your Swift. We would like to showcase such stories on our blog in order to further establish the extent of the relationship shared between a Swift owner and his/her Swift.

Swifter than ever

The Maruti Swift has always been considered to be one of the leading cars in the B segment of the Indian automobile industry. Born with immense power, masculine and sporty looks and plush interiors, it is a package which only a simpleton would deem imperfect. When you think of the Swift, the words which automatically come to mind are power, passion and performance.

August this year saw the launch of the revamped avatar of the Maruti Swift. Over thirty engineers from Suzuki and over a hundred engineers from Maruti burnt the midnight oil for months to give birth to the all new Maruti Swift 2011, which you now see. A lot of thought went into trying to perfect a car which was seen as the epitome of the hatchback segment.

Every aspect of the car; power, looks, comfort and of course safety were carefully and diligently improved. The results of these efforts are seen in the form of the all new Maruti Swift. The length of the new Swift has been increased from 3696mm to 3850mm and the width from 1690mm to 1695mm this basically spells out that the new Maruti Swift is bigger in comparison to its predecessor.

The wheelbase has been increased to make for superior handling. The sweptback extended headlights not only add to the style quotient of the car but also provide a much better light output and range. 185/65 R15 signature alloy wheels and the beautifully crafted wheel arches add to the athletic stance of the car.

Even the interiors of the new Swift are far superior, with an array of advanced features like the central waterfall console, and the digital sound processing (D.S.P) feature, which in accordance to your speed increases or reduces the volume of the music playing. The wrap-around silver accents add to the plush interiors and the feeling of awe while you’re sitting in the Swift. The usage of higher quality materials and superior ergonomics make one just want to sit in the Swift all day.

Maruti hasn’t forgotten to keep safety in mind, the Swift is loaded with features like Boost assist braking system (BAS), Dual SRS airbags, and a new generation ABS system make swift as safe as it is sporty.

I’m sure, if asked prior to August, whether the Swift could get any better, everybody’s answer would be no! However Maruti Suzuki engineers have yet again worked their magic and created a car which would further add to the cult status of the Swift.
